Which multiplication worksheet to choose
One times table: the best start. Learn the 2s, 5s and 10s first, then 3s, 4s, 9s, and the 6s, 7s and 8s last.
Facts 0 to 10: 3rd grade, when all products within 100 should become automatic.
Facts 0 to 12: extra practice with the 11s and 12s.
2-digit × 1-digit and 3-digit × 1-digit: 4th grade, with partial products or the standard algorithm.
2-digit × 2-digit and 3-digit × 2-digit: 4th and 5th grade.
Tips for learning the facts
Keep a multiplication chart nearby at first, and take it away once the child looks at it less.
Use the patterns: the 9s add up to 9 (9 × 7 = 63, 6 + 3 = 9), the 5s end in 0 or 5, and 4 × 8 is double 2 × 8.
Multiplication is commutative: knowing 3 × 8 means knowing 8 × 3, which halves the number of facts to learn.
